Yak Skiing

On who the hell am I, and why should you read this?

So this is my debut to the world of blogging, and I’m not going to lie, it feels a bit awkward.

Ever since I’ve been in Jordan though I keep promising to e-mail everyone more stories and details about my trip, but I keep failing to do so as thoroughly as I imagined myself doing. Partly because I keep forgetting who wants to hear about what, or has asked what questions, and partly because there’s a lot to write about. So instead of trying to get it all into a novel length e-mail that no one, no matter how much they love me, wants in their inbox, I have decided to welcome myself to the wonderful world of blogging that I still have some deep reservations about.

I’ve thought of starting a blog before, but some sense of writerly humbleness has kept me from doing so. As I started to type out the story of this trip though, I realized that this was more than an e-mail’s worth. I was three pages in and the narrative hadn’t even left Amman–that’s a little warning about what’s to come ahead…Keep in mind in your perusal that if I seem overly wordy, in a way I’m writing this as much for me as for you.

I have no idea if this is going to work, If I will want to keep writing it, or if you, mysterious reader who I have not yet identified in my head, will want to keep reading. At any rate, I’m getting ready to shake the bucket of nuts and set it down swiftly. And you’re going to have to wikipedia ‘yak skiing’ to figure out what the hell that means. Welcome to my blog.
